About Hexotics

More than reptiles.
A responsibility we take seriously.

A family-run reptile breeding business with animal care, thoughtful breeding and meaningful records at the heart of what we do.

Hexotics is a family-run reptile breeding business built around one simple principle: the welfare of the animal comes first.

Family run, built on experience

Run by sole trader Grace Blackwood with her father, Steve Heggs, Hexotics brings together more than 20 years of experience with Royal Pythons and around a decade of experience with Boa Constrictors. What began as a long-standing interest in reptiles has developed into a carefully managed breeding programme focused on healthy animals, considered genetics, accurate records and responsible ownership.

We are deliberately different from high-volume reptile breeding. We would rather produce fewer animals to a standard we are proud of than compromise on care, record keeping or the support we provide to their future owners.

Animal care at the heart of what we do

Every animal at Hexotics is treated as an individual. From birth, we monitor and record key information including feeding, weights, sheds, development and relevant genetics. Animals are only made available when we are satisfied that they are healthy, feeding consistently and ready to move to their new home.

Our reptiles are maintained in a purpose-controlled environment where husbandry, cleanliness, temperature and routine are carefully managed. But good animal care is about more than equipment and procedures. It means observing each animal, recognising when something is not right and always being prepared to put the animal's needs ahead of convenience or a sale.

A history to take home

Individual records help us follow feeding, weights, sheds and development. When an animal leaves us, that documented history helps its new keeper make an informed start.

Selective breeding, not simply production

Genetics are an important part of Hexotics, particularly within our Royal Python and Boa projects, but they are never the whole story. Our aim is to produce reptiles that are healthy, well established and properly documented while selectively developing projects and genetic combinations that genuinely interest us.

Every breeding decision starts with the animals rather than the number of offspring that could be produced.

Our responsibility continues after the sale

We do not believe our responsibility ends when an animal leaves Hexotics. We want every purchaser to understand the animal they are taking home, have confidence in its history and know that support remains available afterwards.

That approach is reflected in everything from our husbandry and record keeping to the systems we are developing behind the scenes.

For us, Hexotics is not simply about producing reptiles. It is about responsible breeding, excellent animal care, meaningful records and building lasting relationships with the people who choose the animals we produce.
